Indian Expatriates Awaiting Narendra Modi’s UAE VisitTop Stories

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a two-day official visit, during which a grand public reception is being planned by thousands of Indian expatriates in the UAE.

Narendra Modi is scheduled to make a visit to the UAE on August 16-17. This will be the first time in 34 years that Indian Prime Minister visiting the Gulf nation. Indians are highest among all expat communities in the UAE with nearly 2.6 million Indians.

Gulf News quoted NMC Health Care chairman B R Shetty as saying that, "The news has brought together thousands of Indians from different walks of life. Several Indian associations have volunteered to participate in the organisational work. Indians have responded in huge numbers already." NMC Health Care is one of the largest private healthcare providers in the UAE.

According to the media report, ‘Namo’, an organizing committee was formed in Dubai to look after and make required arrangements for the public reception for Modi. The reception for Modi is expected to take place at a grand scale on 17 August at the Dubai Cricket Association (DCA) stadium.

To visit the reception, audience need not pay any entry fee. However, they are expected to log on and register at www.namoindubai.ae for the event being arranged to receive Modi.

Convener of the Indian Community Welfare Committee (ICWC) in Dubai, K Kumar, was quoted as saying that, "This is important so that we get an idea of the numbers and also on account of the security arrangements.”
