Indian mission has launched an offline mobile app for Indian workers in the Gulf region, especially in Oman. The app will provide aid to the Indian workers. Around 10,000 expatriates has been downloaded the new app.

The Indian embassy said that, the app 'MigCall' has become the helpful tool for the workers, who do not have internet access, when they seek assistance. The app is very helpful in an emergency situation, workers can seek assistance, whenever needed, even without the internet.

According to the Indian embassy, MigCall was launched during the last month, by Indra Mani Pandey, Indian Ambassador to Oman. The app is the brainchild of a senior Oman based, an Indian journalist, Rejimon K. It was developed in cooperation of an Indian businessman, Jose Chacko.

Indian workers in the Gulf region can download MigCall through Google Playstore. The app is available in many Indian languages, such as, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali,  Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and English.

MigCall saves ten helpline numbers in the call list, automatically, after downloading the mobile phone. Users need to register the home country as India and the host country, where they are presently living.

Once downloaded, the app will save five main helpline numbers available in the host country and five helpline numbers in India.

Embassy informed that, at present, the app provides helpline numbers of only six Gulf Corporation Council countries (GCC), such as, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The app also provides help line numbers of passport services, counseling services, hospital numbers and local police numbers.
