Indian welder accused of Blasphemy on Facebook

An Indian Nationalist welder has been accused of posting offensive post, in which he insulted the Prophet Mohammad on his Facebook page.

A store worker was surfing Facebook, when he notices the slanderous remarks allegedly posted by the 31-year-old welder in November.

According to records, the store worker reported the remarks to Al Rashidiya police station.

The store worker knew where the welder stayed and guided the police to his residence, from where the accused was apprehended.

When questioned, the welder claimed that his phone had been hacked and someone else had posted those comments on his Facebook wall.

The suspect was charged for using Facebook to insult the Prophet.

He did not enter a plea, when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday since presiding Judge Mohammad Jamal did not level the charge against him.

The case has been adjourned till March 21 by Presiding judge Jamal adjourned, till prosecutors review the accusation sheet and hand out a modified one to the court.

He said the same thing to prosecutors, claiming that his phone had been hacked and that he had not posted those comments on Facebook.

The store worker testified to interrogators that a Facebook user informed him about the suspect who was posting the comments and sent him his [the suspect] address.

The worker said when he headed to the address of the suspect, near a mosque in Al Rashidiya… the suspect was drunk and the worker felt angry because the suspect had cursed and offended the Prophet. Therefore, the worker reported the matter to the nearest police station.”

According to records of the prosecution Dubai Police investigation report did not confirm that the suspect’s Facebook account was hacked or whether he was the one who had personally posted the comments.
