
The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has been directed to investigate the case of a Indian national woman from Hyderabad, who is being tortured by a kafil (employer) in Saudi Arabia and is refusing to send her back to India.
The India’s General Administration Department in a letter gave CID the name and phone number of the agent who sent Arshiya Begum to Saudi Arabia.
Arshiya Begum’s kafil in Jeddah, Ebtisam Yahya Abdullah has demanded a sum of Rs. 300,000 to allow her to return to India.
Arshiya's husband Mohammed Ibrahim said about the plight of his wife. He told to Indian government authorities, though she was promised a beautician's job, she was forced to work as a housemaid in Jeddah. Apart from being subjected to daily torture, Arshiya is being denied proper food and medicines.
The General Administration department, which also addressed a letter to the Consulate General of India, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and secretary, ministry of external and overseas Indian affairs, wanted measures to be taken to get Arshiya Begum released from the clutches of the employer and repatriated to India.
Principal secretary, Adhar Sinha in the communication to the CID asked that the case of Arshiya Begum be treated as `most urgent'. It was pointed out that the agent, Syed Durveshuddlu Adil of Resala Bazar Road, Golconda Fort had sent her to Saudi. Arshiya's husband also filed a complaint at the Golconda police station against the agent.
CID, which is India’s one of the most reputed law enforcement agency will investigate the case with reference to section 10 and 24 of the Emigration Act, 1983 and other relevant laws of the land.
A report regarding the case has also been asked to be sent to the Indian government for taking further action.
Amjedullah Khan, the leader of MBT said that Arshiya Begum was trafficked to Riyadh via Dubai and Muscat.
He said that Arshiya was taken on a visit visa in September last year. Amjedullah Khan also addressed a letter to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to rescue Arshiya Begum.
