
Qatar Foundation (QF) is all set to launch a National Reading Campaign soon. The campaign will have a special focus on children and aims to make books more accessible to Qatar’s residents, especially children.
According to organizers, the campaign seeks to unite the individual literacy efforts of relevant organizations across the country to make a strong platform, which will enable to promote a passion for reading countrywide.
The President of Community Development,Qatar Foundation,Fahd Sa’ad Al Qahtani, said that,“By incubating a deep-rooted culture of self-learning, Qatar Foundation is working to inspire a passion for innovation.” “Reading is the primary building block for learning, as it helps to encourage a range of soft skills in young minds, including learning, understanding and creativity.”
“Extensive research has revealed that reading aloud is the single most important activity for improving language and literacy skills and, among other things, this initiative will seek to promote this activity. Ultimately, we hope that this campaign will contribute to the continuing development of this nation,” he added.
The year-round National Reading Campaign is focusing on schoolchildren countrywide during its first stage and the regular reading sessions are being taken at multiple local schools in the country in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
