Sharjah Police Launches Special Hotline for Blind and Deaf

Sharjah Police have recently launched a special hotline phone number catered to the residents with disabilities, which will allow them to report crimes and emergencies.

In a statement issued by the Police department on 1st February, the phone number 052-7003025 of the operating room at Sharjah police department enables people with hearing and visual disability to contact police authorities through Whatsapp.

Photos and written messages can be sent directly to the police. Major Ali Al Zaabi, from the social police centre of Khorfakkan Police, said that the number 052-7003025 works 24/7, and is, “operated by well-trained professionals who are keen to offer the best level of services to all members of the public.”

Residents with disabilities can use the National Ambulance app 998, in the time of emergency to call an ambulance within the northern emirates.

The National Ambulance mobile application was launched in 2016 May for the people in the Northern Emirates. The app provides the facility to request an ambulance without any hassle.

This ambulance service is available Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.

In Dubai, residents can contact Dubai Ambulance’s app Olem and Same’e.

The Olem smart phone application can easily be accessed by visually impaired people to request for an ambulance at the time of emergency by pressing the power button of the mobile phone three times in a row to launch the application.

Then the voice instructions, then direct to the operations control room of Dubai Ambulance, where the information about the caller is sent to the operator via text message.

The Same’e application caters to hearing-impaired residents, allowing them to request for an ambulance through the use of text messages and multiple choices to describe the emergency situation as thoroughly as possible.

All the three applications are available in English and Arabic.
