Dubai Ban Selling and Buying Wild Animals From July

According to Federal Law No. 22 of 2016, Dubai is going to outlaw selling and purchasing of predatory and dangerous wild animals that includes wild cats, such as lions, cheetahs, panthers, tiger and leopards, as well as hyenas, crocodiles, wild dogs, predatory reptiles, eagles and vultures from July, the Dubai Municipality announced on April 14th.

The decision is taken in an aim to protect people from dangerous animals, said Zuhoor Al Sabbagh, Director of Public Health Services Department at Dubai Municipality.

Under the new rules, all the animals should be registered at the municipality, said Al Sabbagh.

Non-dangerous and domesticated animals are not included in the list.

The list also includes zebras, African wild asses, kiangs, giraffes, rhinoceroses, bears, weasels, aardvarks, mongooses, pronghorns, wild birds (such as ostriches, eagles and vultures, gulls, penguins, cassowaries, and marsupials), xenarthrans, bats, snakes, lizards, scorpions, spiders, and others.
