Apple has revealed it will hold its 'Awe dropping' event on Tuesday (September 9), where the eagerly awaited iPhone 17 series may be introduced along with new models of the Apple Watch, refreshed AirPods, and an assortment of accessories. The California-based company is anticipated to present four models of the forthcoming series, namely the iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Air, and the standard iPhone 17 version. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook hinted at the event last month with a graphic resembling a thermal camera image, sparking fan speculation about the possibility of a thermal camera or a cooling system upgrade for the device. Although Apple has kept information about the specifications under wraps, several leaks have surfaced, suggesting what the new device could offer.
While information remains uncertain, Apple seems poised to introduce an updated iPhone design for the first time in five years. The iPhone Air might represent a new creative path for the company, drawing inspiration from its popular MacBook Air and iPad Air. This device could be much slimmer than previous iPhones at just 5.5 millimeters, even thinner than the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, according to Bloomberg. It will feature the same A19 processor as the iPhone 17. Additionally, it will incorporate a standard USB-C port, ProMotion support, and a 6.6-inch display. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Pro is anticipated to include enhanced camera features, which may consist of better low-light capabilities and improved zoom options.
According to various leaks, the iPhone 17 might have a more attractive appearance than ever, with two new color options—green and purple—being considered for the latest series. Last year, the iPhone 16 was available in five bright colors: black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine, which is a deep blue. Reports citing this leak, such as one from Forbes, suggest that the battery in the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be about 5,000mAh, surpassing the largest battery currently in the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is 4,676mAh. The new Pro model might come with advanced OLED screens that allow for brighter displays without draining the battery too much. This feature could be beneficial for creators utilizing the 4K video recording at 60 frames per second option. The iPhone 17 series may start at Rs 89,900 for the entry-level model, with the Air priced at Rs 95,000, and the Pro Max potentially reaching Rs 1,64,900, according to various reports. Currency fluctuations and Apple's worldwide strategy could further influence the prices customers ultimately pay. A report by JPMorgan indicates that the base iPhone 17 is expected to remain at $799, the same price as the iPhone 16. The newly announced iPhone 17 Air, which is taking the place of the Plus model, may be priced between $899 and $949.
